Flight Instructor

Why not become a flight instructor and pass on the knowledge that you have gained?

A flight instructors rating is an invaluable tool to those wishing to further their own flying skills as well as giving you the satisfaction of teaching others to fly whilst being paid.

The flight instructors course includes a minimum of 30 hrs flying training plus 125 hrs ground instruction, covering the entire range of the PPL(H) teaching syllabus.

The requirements to become a flight instructor are; that the holder of a PPL(H) must have at least 250 hrs total flight time including 200 hrs Pilot in Command and have obtained a pass in all the CPL(H) theoretical exams; a holder of a CPL(H) or a frozen ATPL(H) must have a minimum of 250 hrs total flight time including 100 hrs Pilot in Command.

In either case the candidate must undergo an Flight Instructor assessment flight with one of our senior flight instructors and if suitable commence the flight instructor’s course.

After completing the flight instructor course and passing the flight test at the end, you will have a FI (H) restricted rating.  This means that you will be able to conduct basic lessons with pupils under the supervision of a senior FI(H).

On completion of 100 hrs Flight Instruction and sending 25 students on solo flights the CAA will remove the restriction and give you a full FI (H) rating.
