Type Ratings


In the UK each pilot licence contains a ratings page, this is the list of helicopters that the individual is approved to fly. Our training department at HJS Helicopters can provide both initial or revalidation training for pilots on different aircraft.

The initial course involves a short course including ground instruction, 5 hours flight time and a flight skills test with one of our "in-house" CAA examiners.

We currently offer type ratings on all of our fleet including:
- The Robinson R22, 2 seat, piston engine helicopter the mainstay of the UK training fleet.
- The Robinson R44, 4 seat, piston engine helicopter a very popular fast / light family and executive helicopter.
- The SA341G Gazelle, 5 seat, turbine engine helicopter an iconic machine used for many years by the military but in this case smart, tidy and leather seats all round.
- The Bell 206L LongRanger, 7 seat, turbine engine helicopter used in numerous executive and commercial duties worldwide.
